Smart dimming film (STF) is also known as PDLC liquid crystal film (Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal), PDLC is polymer dispersed liquid crystal, also known as electronically controlled dimming film, electronic curtains and so on. 

A membrane-based product mixes a liquid crystal (LC) with a prepolymer and attaches it to a transparent conductive substrate to have both liquid and crystal characteristics, as well as significant photoelectric characteristics. 

In the absence of an electric field, the disordered arrangement of molecules is in an opaque state, and under the action of an electric field, the molecules are arranged in an orderly manner along the direction of the electric field, so that it has translucency, and the electric field can be controlled by it converts between transparent and opaque states.

The dimming film is a new type of electronic light control product. The electronically controlled intelligent dimming film device injects a liquid crystal/polymer hybrid material between two transparent conductive films. In the absence of an electric field, the electronically controlled intelligent control film is Opaque state.

When the alternating current is applied, the liquid crystal molecules are arranged in an orderly manner, and the electro-dimming film is switched from the opaque state (OFF state) to the transparent state (ON state). Through the action of the electric field, a fast transition from the on state to the off state, the off state to the on state can be achieved.

Technical Specifications:

  • In the power-off condition (off state), it is milky white, and when it is energized (on state), it is colorless and transparent.

  • The open state transmittance is not less than 75%, and the off-state transmittance is not more than 2%.
